Recruiters are always looking for innovative ways to connect with potential candidates. ChatGPT is a new technology that enables recruiters to communicate with candidates in an automated, personalized way, and it has quickly become a powerful tool for recruiters in their recruitment efforts. With the ability to generate and customize messages using natural language processing and predictive algorithms, recruiters can tailor their communications to each individual candidate, making it easier to find the right fit for the job.
Many recruiters I speak with are reluctant or scared to try ChatGPT. Let’s face it, AI in recruiting has gotten a bad rap. I understand their concerns, but ChatGPT is different. Its AI-powered technology has been developed specifically to automate recruitment conversations and provide better candidate experiences. I find it’s a lot like a virtual assistant who can help me with time consuming tasks and research.
The key to starting is understanding the prompts that make using ChatGPT for recruiters a success move. Prompts in ChatGPT follows a structure. The structure can include a basic understanding of the types of data you will be providing, and how those data sets are interconnected.
Example of ChatGPT for Recruiters:
For example, if you are looking for a job in Human Resources, the prompts might include questions about your experience, skillset and qualifications. Once you have provided all this information, ChatGPT can use it to generate accurate and tailored candidate reports. Additionally, you can use the prompts to customize your profile or chatbot interaction, so it fits the needs of both you and the interviewer. Through this process, ChatGPT can create an personalized dialogue that best reflects your abilities and experience. Understanding how the prompts work in ChatGPT is essential for successful usage of the product. Knowing what data sets are being collected, how they are interconnected and how to customize your profile or conversation will help you make the most out of ChatGPT’s capabilities.

Create Onboarding Tasks
Onboarding new hires is a critical step in the employee lifecycle. It sets the tone for how employees are welcomed and assimilated into the team. The problem for most of us is it’s incredibly time consuming to either create or work with marketing to create onboarding messages.
Enter ChatGPT for recruiters!
You may want to create a drip campaign for new hires to give them access to necessary information. Here’s an example of a prompt in ChatGPT:
How can I create a message for a new hire for [specific position], that showcases our [specific Company type and details] commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and makes them feel welcome and valued as a member of our team?

The result gives you a base to start. I find it’s much quicker and easier to edit versus create such content. Here’s what ChatGPT provided:

Here’s another example:
What can I include in a message to a new hire in [specific position], to provide them with information about the support and resources available to them, such as employee benefits, training programs, and professional development opportunities, and help them feel confident and empowered in their new role?

I’m not suggesting this is the end all, be all, but it definitely helps you begin creating onboarding content quicker.
Engaging Candidates using ChatGPT for Recruiters
The mass recruiting emails to potential candidates is becoming annoying for most recipients. Last week, I received what I perceived as a mass email recommending I reach out to the recruiter about a new opening as a entry level recruiter. It was pretty apparent the recruiter did not look once at my profile.
But who has the time to make individualized content based on a candidate profile? ChatGPT for recruiters can help.

Summarize Meeting Notes or Candidate Meetings
If you’re like me and take a lot of notes, sometimes they can be too cryptic to share with others in a useful way. One success tip I’ve found is to share my notes with participants in meetings to be sure I understood everything correctly and captured Action Items.
The same is true for candidate notes. Maybe I wrote a list of qualities or examples of success while speaking with the candidate but it doesn’t really flow enough to share with a hiring manager. Let’s use ChatGPT to help summarize the candidate’s experience in a more marketable way.
Summarize the following notes into a way that markets the candidate’s abilities: Candidate Name: John Smith, Employer: Google, Experience: – Responsible for implementing part or all of the technical solution to the client, in accordance with an agreed technical design. Occasionally responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions. Understands a broad spectrum of HatchWorks’ products / technology in order to provide part or all of a detailed technical design which meets customer requirements. – Often leads small to medium technical projects. Works with and under the direction of the Project/Technical Manager and with customer nominated representatives. Liaises with Solutions Architect as appropriate. – Provides technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment. Provides advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined segments. – Provides technical leadership on specific integration activities that are part of an engagement. – Provides planning and design support for the development of solution architectures that will be implemented in a multiple system environment. – Communicates across client community, and is viewed as adding value. Demonstrates execution of HatchWorks’ strategy. Knowledge sharing and reuse within practice or profession. – Proactively encourages membership and contributions of others to professional community. Uses professions to meet the relevant certification and professional standards. – Produces internally published material such as knowledge briefs, service delivery kit components or modules, etc. – Participates in the selling process and works with sales/principals on presales activities.
