When I last counted, I had over 50 emails sitting in my LinkedIn box asking me about the integration of AI and machine learning products. It seems like roughly 60% of the recruiting industry is dragging their feet when it comes to identifying new tools that will increase recruiter productivity. I’m not sure if it’s a fear of robots taking over the world or just a general apprehension to anything new but it’s too exciting of a time in recruiting to miss out on all of the fun. If you are one of those who is largely distrusting of technology in the recruiting space, let me introduce you to Visage, an AI/Human combo for your sourcing needs.
Who is Visage?
Here’s the official line from the company website:
Founded in 2015, Visage simplifies candidate sourcing and outreach so recruiters can focus on what really matters – their candidates. We create a strong and diverse candidate pipeline so that employers can focus on interviewing and assessing talent rather than searching for it. We solve this through our crowdsourcing solution plus advanced AI, a combination that is able to find the best candidates for open roles in a matter of hours. Our community of over 4000 global sourcers has access to millions of passive candidates. They leave no stone unturned! At Visage, we help you find the top talent out there and send only the qualified and committed candidates ready to interview.
We built an exceptional team using our own tool! As a 100% remote company, we are able to find the best talent imaginable – hiring based on skill set, experience & cultural fit. We practice radical transparency with our colleagues and our clients, valuing honesty and meaning above all else. We work passionately towards our goals while maintaining balance within our personal & professional lives. Our employees live in all parts of the world providing a global and diverse perspective.

After my call with Steven McLean Director of Client Solutions, I would define the firm as a perfect blend of human and AI sourcing. The primary goal of the firm is to focus on sourcing and engaging talent by crowdsourcing the projects over four thousand sourcers in 42 countries. Their primary value proposition is to offer the gift of time on the front end by driving quality candidates, vetted by both AI and humans, to your front door.
How do they do it?
Visage can start with any job by either pulling it through API from your ATS or through a more manual process like a recruiter onboarding the job requirements in their platform. Once the job is loaded, the firm leverages its vast group of sourcing agents on the job to find talent. Because they’re using professional sourcing agents, they’re putting the job between 8-12 sourcers at any given time. Recruiting groups that are beyond capacity and strapped by headcount restrictions can benefit from this crowdsourcing function.
Now that you have the job active with Visage, the platform will provide batches of profiles within 24. Steven shared that the firm has an 83% acceptance rate of candidates presented on average. This is quite impressive when you compare it to the sourcing efforts of any overworked internal recruiting group.
Another great add-on is how this helps with diversity of the talent pool. If you stop and think, a byproduct of having a diverse candidate pool of sourcing agents who will approach the search in different ways is a more diverse candidate pool. Back in the day, I had a very diverse group of sourcers who always found qualified talent but in very different ways. It was fascinating to me how diverse each candidate was for the search and how the sourcing agents found the candidates. If you’re looking for a way to boost your diversity, this might be an easy way to get some quick wins.
The Platform
The ultimate form of sophistication is simplicity.

I got to see a demo of the platform and must say, I really liked its simplicity. The project overview shows you an easy dashboard of statistics, current stage of candidates as well as the ability to start/stop the sourcing efforts.

If you are leery about technology or just don’t know where to start, Visage might be a good first step for you. I’m currently piloting it with a special project and will write a subsequent post about our results. In the interim, I’d recommend you check out Visage for yourself. I’ve really been impressed with the support I’ve received from Steven so be sure to reach out to him to schedule your own demo:

About me
and Sprint Recruiting

I joined the HR industry in 2004 after working as a sales leader in the Financial Services Industry for eight years. After spending his first couple of years in HR trying to fit in, I found my voice. Now I leverage all of the things I once hated about HR to become a consultant and invaluable partner to the businesses I support. I contribute to the HRGazzette and to DataDrivenInvestor on Medium. WARNING: my writing style is raw and in your face, not what you would expect from an HR executive.
